Chengxiao (Cheung) Xu
Creative Producer|Line Producer|Screenwriter
Chengxiao “Cheung” Xu is a NYC-based creative producer, line producer, and screenwriter working across film, vertical dramas, music videos, and independent media projects. With a film production background from the School of Visual Arts and graduate study at the University of Pennsylvania, he brings together storytelling, creative development, and hands-on production experience.
Cheung has produced and coordinated more than twenty short films and video projects across drama, comedy, crime, horror, biographical, and experimental genres. His experience includes script development, budgeting, scheduling, location coordination, casting support, crew communication, and on-set problem solving. Several of his short films have been selected by film festivals.
In addition to independent producing, Cheung has gained experience across different parts of the screen industry, including script and project evaluation, market research, and distribution support through internships at film companies in China. He also worked as a location coordinator assistant on Sony Pictures’ Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, supporting large-scale professional production logistics.
As a screenwriter, Cheung is interested in character-driven drama, migration, cultural identity, and emotional realism. His writing practice informs his producing approach: he sees production not only as logistics, but as a process of protecting the story and translating creative intention into achievable plans.
Based in New York, Cheung works across film, television, digital media, and creative production, with an ongoing interest in narrative storytelling, screenwriting, and cross-cultural media collaboration.
